Description
As a Senior Analyst in the US Accounting & Regulatory team at National Bank, you’ll become a specialist in U.S. Broker dealer accounting and reporting. With your knowledge and experience in accounting and U.S GAAP you’ll have a positive impact onon the organization. The senior analyst will be dedicated to National Bank of Canada Financial Inc. (NBCFI) reporting activities, however will have the opportunity to cross-train with the New York Branch team. The position and activities are conducted from our head office in Montreal.
Your job
- Participate in the month-end financial close process by preparing various journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations
- Perform accounting analyses and activities related to profit transfers, including preparation and posting to the general ledger, as well as reconciliation and variance analysis
- Participate in the preparation of various financial and regulatory reports
- Produce financial information needed by NBC for the preparation of their consolidated statements
- Assist in the preparation of working papers for U.S. and Canadian tax returns
- Participate in external and regulatory audits
- Perform ad hoc analysis
- and participate in various special projects
- Participate in the delivery of business initiatives and implementation projects

As part of the Finance sector, you’ll be part of a team of 5 colleagues reporting to the Senior Manager, U.S. Accounting & Regulatory Reporting. The team is responsible for the production of statutory and regulatory reports for NBCFI, the U.S. broker-dealer subsidiary of National Bank as well as for NBC’s New York branch and stands out for its expertise in U.S. GAAP. As the business of NBCFI expands, there are many development opportunities to grow within the team and take on new reporting duties associated with it.

Prerequisites
- Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting and 3 to 4 years of experience
- Detail oriented with effective analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Self-starter and team player
- Ability to meet strict deadlines
- Strong Excel skills
