As a Director in the Financial Products trading team at National Bank, you will play a key part in the design and execution of bespoke derivatives solutions for sophisticated institutional clients.
Your Job
- Design and price custom derivatives structures tailored to the hedging and investment needs of institutional clients, including but not limited to custom pay-off profiles and novel risk management strategies across multiple asset classes (equities, commodities, fixed income, currencies).
- Execute and manage trades, ensuring optimal performance and risk management.
- Collaborate closely with the structuring, legal, and risk teams to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Support senior team members in maintaining and expanding high-value client relationships, including responding to ad hoc requests and proactively identifying new opportunities.
- Support and mentor junior team members in managing their professional development.
- Prepare and present quantitative analyses and solutions to both internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Ensure a high level of integrity and professionalism in all client interactions and internal communications.

As an established player in the Canadian markets, NBF is committed to adding high caliber resources to its Capital Markets team. The Financial Products group, with professionals located in the Toronto and Montreal offices, is a key part of this team.
The Financial Products group is an integrated sales and trading team that develops innovative investment solutions and customized solutions for its clients. Examples of transactions developed and executed by this group include:
- Customized Index swaps and other linear derivatives for ETFs
- Cash-collateralized forwards
- Complex Index replication
This role reports to a Managing Director in the Financial Products trading team. You will have the opportunity to work in an entrepreneurial atmosphere and collaborate with various other groups within Financial Markets. As a Director in this team, you will contribute to a fast pace, sales & trading oriented, co-operative team environment that highly rewards professional excellence and initiative.
This position is based in Montreal or Toronto.
Basic Requirements
- Completed a graduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field. Other degrees (Actuarial Sciences, Engineering, etc.) may be considered
- Proven experience (7+ years) in delta 1, equity derivatives trading or related field, with a focus on custom and complex hedging solutions and/or risk management for counterparties.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing bespoke pay-off structures and executing multi-layered trades.
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills with a strong command of relevant pricing models and risk systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to cultivate meaningful client relationships and work effectively with internal partners.
- Proficiency with Excel, VBA, and Python required
