Description
As an Associate, Funding, you will contribute directly to decision-making and the execution of the Bank’s funding activities. In this role, you will leverage your judgment, analytical skills, and market knowledge to support financial performance, propose value‑creating strategies, and maintain a strong understanding of the economic and financial environment.
Your role
- Participate in the Bank’s secured and unsecured funding operations
- Execute required foreign exchange (FX) activities and optimize revenues through FX Transactions
- Contribute to the Bank’s collateral management
- Support and coordinate funding activities across international centers
- Participate in the management of liquidity, interest rate, basis, and currency risks
- Support the Managing Director through the preparation of rigorous financial analyses
- Work closely with the Asset/Liability Management, Deposit Solutions and Global Securities Finance Teams.
- Contribute to the management and optimization of effective and regulatory liquidity metrics
- Monitor financial markets and economic data on an ongoing basis
- Contribute to achieving the profitability objectives of the Global Funding and Treasury Team
- Propose and execute market strategies aimed at generating and optimizing short-term funding revenues
- Maintain and develop strong relationships with internal and external counterparties
The team
The Funding team is responsible for managing and executing the Bank’s overall funding activities, both short‑ and long‑term, including various secured programs and conduits. Based in Montréal, Toronto, New York, and London, the team operates in a dynamic, international environment. It works closely with Global Securities Finance teams and Asset/Liability Management teams, while playing a central role in liquidity risk management and internal liquidity pricing. The position reports to the Managing Director, Short‑Term Funding.
The development of your skills is a key priority and is supported through hands‑on learning, guidance from leaders, and collaboration with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field, with a minimum of two years of experience (any equivalent combination of relevant experience will be considered)
- Strong knowledge of financial products (funding, interest rates, currencies, derivatives)
- Experience negotiating financial products
- Strong analytical skills
- Rigor, attention to detail, and versatility
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Bilingualism in French and English required, due to frequent interactions with English‑speaking partners and suppliers
- Knowledge of Bloomberg
- Programming skills
