With exabytes of customer content and growing, OneDrive and SharePoint are the foundation of content collaboration across Microsoft 365.

Our team is focused on building systems and experiences to help people work with their content in brand new ways through the latest developments in large language models and generative AI. We're a collaborative, fast-paced team of engineers, product managers, designers, researchers, and scientists. We work in close partnership with other teams spanning across Microsoft. We are looking to hire a Software Engineer II to join our team.

Responsibilities

Partners with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of scenarios.
Incorporates dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
Strives to produce extensible, maintainable, high-quality code used across products.
Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
Experience with front-end technologies (e.g., React), cloud computing platforms like Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, and experience with service design patterns and concepts including REST, RPC, JSON, GraphQL.
Experience with LLMs, orchestrators, embedding models, and/or vector databases.
2+ years of experience launching and shipping multiple iterations of products to customers.
Experience with product strategy and vision, exemplary communication skills (written & oral), a background of influencing others, and bias towards action.
Ability to collaborate across teams, disciplines, and across levels of management, engaging in a healthy team culture of diversity, inclusion, belonging, and collaboration.
Demonstrated interest and empathy for customer scenarios and passion for high quality experiences.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $85,000 - CAD $166,800 per year.
