Substitute Teachers (Casual, On-Call)
Medicine Hat Public School Division serves over 7,000 students and offers a full spectrum of programs and services centered on student needs, with sensitivity to families and the broader community. Our Division serves children from 2½ years of age through Grade 12.
Our Division includes:
- 3 High Schools
- 3 Middle Schools (including one with a Christian Education focus)
- 13 Elementary Schools
- Outreach Programs
Qualifications
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent recognized by Alberta Education
Responsibilities
Substitute teachers are expected to fulfill the professional duties and responsibilities of teachers. In addition, substitute teachers shall:
- Arrive at the assigned school at least fifteen (15) minutes before morning and afternoon assemblies to ensure a smooth start.
- Report to the school office upon arrival to receive any instructions for the day.
- Take on any supervisory responsibilities as directed by the Principal.
- Attend staff meetings if requested by the Principal.
- Leave a brief written summary for the absent teacher, highlighting work completed and any important notes.
- Check out at the office at the end of the teaching day.
Rate of Pay
- $271.00 per full day
- $135.50 per half day
