Herald School has approximately 150 students, providing quality programing designed to meet the wide range of academic, social, and life needs of our students. The inclusive environment of Herald School provides each of our students with learning opportunities that are unique to our school and are designed to enrich their educational and life experiences.
Educational Assistant
A full time (30 hours/week) Probationary Educational Assistant is required to work for the duration of the 2025-2026 school year with a start date as soon as possible.
Skills & Requirements:
- Experience working with students with diverse needs would be an asset
- Preference will be given to applicants with an understanding of childhood development
- Building strong relationships with students, helping students learn, and seeing the best in every student in an inclusive school setting
- Supervision duties (recess, classroom, lunch, etc.)
- Assisting and supporting students through individual support plans and/or behaviour support plans
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students and adults
- Work as part of a team, take direction and follow student and classroom programs
- Enthusiastic and motivated to help students succeed
- Ability to work in a flexible learning environment and make adjustments for classroom or individual child needs
Qualifications:
- Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent experience preferred
- Experience and/or training working with students in a school setting
- Ability to work with children with varied ages, skills level, needs and abilities specifically early learning to grade 6
- Ability to work within a specialized classroom at times
- First aid would be an asset
