Sr. Learning and Development Specialist

The Opportunity: Reporting to the Manager of Learning & Development, the Sr. Learning and Development Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting MLFs Leadership learning programs. This individual will be instrumental in thedesign, development, coordination, delivery, and evaluationof various learning initiatives across the organization. The role requires a proactive approach toenhance the learning experience, ensuring that all programs are aligned with MLFs strategic objectives and contribute to the development of its leaders while also building strong partnerships across the business.

  • Ensuring our programming is in demand and relevant.
  • Manage the life cycle of learning programs, including coordinating participants, logistics, supporting facilitators, and facilitating content where necessary.
  • Evaluate, track, and report on all training regarding attendance, engagement, completion, and success rates.
  • Develop and execute engaging training communications for campaigns, calendars, and individual stakeholders to increase awareness and demand for our programming.
Strategic Analysis and Planning:
  • Work with leaders within the business to identify knowledge and skill gaps.
  • Develop solutions that consider learner persona, objectives, business constraints, and available resources while applying adult learning principles and instructional design techniques.
  • Proactively seek out the latest talent research best practices and identify key trends that will inform current and future learning programs.
Collaboration and Relationship Building:
  • Collaborate with other learning, HR team members, and learning partners to deliver organizational objectives.
  • Partner and build close and meaningful relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Build connections and work with vendors to ensure programming is relevant, meets our objectives, and is delivering what is expected.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify issues and/or recommend program improvements to ensure programs are delivered efficiently, and participants experience a high-quality learning program that delivers business outcomes.
  • Lead complex projects through the entire project life cycle, including course/program development and implementation.
Content Design and Development:
  • Design and develop effective and engaging content and materials, employing recognized adult learning principles.
  • Work with functional subject-matter-experts to ensure the content is reflective of current business practices and addresses existing skill gaps.
  • Collaborate with outside vendors to ensure the successful delivery of content and/or key programs.
What Youll Bring:
  • 3-5 years of experience in managing the life cycle of learning programs
  • Action orientated and proactive, taking the initiative on areas of responsibility
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relations with clients within the business and work collaboratively and communicate effectively with key cross-functional business stakeholders across all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including writing, listening, speaking, and facilitating
  • Effective listening skills, seeking to understand the full context, expected end state to deliver what is expected
  • Strong attention to detail, prioritization and organizational skills to support multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Proven ability to deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment
  • Highly motivated and results-driven, with high energy and resilience
College or University degree in training, adult learning, or organizational behavior or equivalent certification in adult learning principles (CSTD) is preferred What We Offer at Maple Leaf Foods:
