Hatchery Student (Part-time)-New Hamburg, ON
Location: 70 Heritage Drive, New Hamburg, Ontario
Now is a very exciting time to join the Maple Leaf family. Maple Leaf Foods is located in New Hamburg, ON. Currently, the New Hamburg Hatchery has the ability to hatch approximately 1,000,000 chicks per week. Our work includes everything from receiving eggs from our farms to distributing chicks to many growers across the province.
Position Summary:
The Part-Time Hatchery Student is responsible for sanitation and box washing, farm rack filling and egg room cleaning.
Shifts are Monday and Friday with rotating Saturdays. You may be asked to support additional days as needed.
Monday and Friday start time 4:30 pm tofinish.
Saturday start time - 7 am tofinish.

Responsibilities include:
- Unload boxes into box-wash room from spare truck
- Unstack boxes and remove dirty chick pads
- Load boxes onto conveyor system for washing
- Unload clean boxes and re-pad
- Stack boxes and move to Chick Room
- Clean dollies with high pressure hose
- Moving stacks of dollies into Chick Room using insert
- Move dirty egg flat bins to box wash feed plastic trays into the washer and re-stack
- Rinse, wash, sanitize machine and room
- Other Duties as assigned
- Must be able to work in a wet/humid environment
- Must be able to follow SOPS,HACCP Requirements & schedules
- Must be capable of standing for long periods
- Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
- Able to work in warm/humid work environment
- Able to complete Repetitive tasks
- $20.20 /hour (6-monthwage progression wage starts at $19.20)
