Job Description

The opportunity

The digital retirement web team is building out the capabilities required to enable Manulife to deliver a successful, high quality product and services to our customers. As a Web Software Engineer Director on the digital retirement web team, you will bring your expertise on software development delivery to our existing and new applications. You will help drive the design and enhancements of new customer experiences, including product offering and high quality services to our customers. You will collaborate with the product team, multiple technology teams at Manulife and third party vendors.


Responsibilities

  • Lead Digital Web Squad and Ensure software delivery
  • Builds, codes, tests, maintain high quality software
  • Conduct Agile sprints and ceremonies; supports rapid iteration and development
  • Translates user requirements into software requirements
  • Support and guide design and building web applications, handling testing and managing versions and updates
  • Accepts and modifies specifications and standards
  • Supervise and ensure building and coding complex software
  • Manages development project
  • Coaches teammates at lower levels
  • Contributes code across Division
  • Has positive impact to specific organizational entities & understands nature of impact
  • Top contributor and often enables others to contribute as well.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent
  • 4+ years of Management Experience
  • Good general understanding of how large scale software systems are designed, built, tested, deployed and into the hands of customers.
  • Strong understanding of delivery and go-to-market methods and metrics.
  • Good general understanding of the role of product managers, product designers, engineers, quality assurance, devops and product marketers
  • At least 5 years of experience working in the engineering organization of a product using common Agile methods (Scrum, Kanban, XP, SAFE)
  • A minimum of 10+ years of experience in Software Development including Omnichannel Digital experiences and API Integrations
  • Professional experience as a front-end web developer with a strong portfolio demonstrating UI/UX design expertise.
  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Strong understanding of UI/UX design principles, accessibility standards, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Experience with design tools such as Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD), or Figma.
  • Familiar with CI/CD build pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitHub Merging and Branching
  • Test Automation Experience
  • Good work ethic, self-starter, and results oriented
  • Excellent communication skills are essential, with strong verbal and writing proficiencies

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

Toronto, Ontario

Salary range is expected to be between

$107,730.00 CAD - $200,070.00 CAD
