Underwriting Business Process Analyst

This is an exciting opportunity to support the Individual Insurance Underwriting team by driving operational excellence and improving the advisor and customer experience. In this role, you’ll analyze underwriting workflows, resolve service issues, and identify opportunities for process optimization. Your work will directly contribute to Manulife’s mission of making decisions easier and lives better by enhancing the speed, accuracy, and quality of our underwriting operations. You’ll gain exposure to cross-functional teams, build expertise in underwriting systems, and help shape the future of our service delivery.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Analyze underwriting workflows and identify inefficiencies or recurring service issues

  • Collaborate with underwriting, operations, and technology teams to implement process improvements

  • Conduct root cause analysis and recommend strategies to enhance service delivery and reduce friction

  • Act as a subject matter expert on underwriting service pain points and advocate for continuous improvement

  • Maintain and update underwriting documentation, including the underwriting manual and SharePoint site content; manage team membership and access permissions; perform regular access control audits to ensure compliance and data integrity

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in individual insurance underwriting or new business operations.

  • Experience with underwriting systems and workflow tools (e.g., Arrow, AWD).

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is an asset.

Salary range is expected to be between

$49,125.00 CAD - $81,875.00 CAD
