Job Description

About the Role:

The Senior Treaty Specialist, Documentation ensures the timely and accurate completion of reinsurance treaty documentation, within corporate guidelines and with appropriate review and sign-off for Canadian and US reinsurance arrangements. The position approves the set-up of, and changes to, treaty records within the TAI reinsurance administration system and manages the completeness and accuracy of all treaty data and support.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure appropriate review, and revision of Reinsurance treaties for management and client.
  • Ensures signed treaty is properly filed.
  • Assist in the development of standard wording used in Reinsurance treaties.
  • Assesses risks and exposures and negotiates acceptable wording with the client and business unit leaders.
  • Ensures each Reinsurance agreement is supported by documentation in the form of Treaties, Amendments, Addenda, Letters of Agreement or Letters of Intent, which are consistent with the quote and intent of any oral or written understanding.
  • ⁠Ensures the protection of the Company's business interests, legal position and regulatory compliance through comprehension, negotiation, and prompt completion of documentation.
  • Ensures the completeness and accuracy of electronic treaty data, which is used widely for business decisions and the reporting of business.
  • Provides analysis of proposed and existing treaty documentation and/or electronic treaty records to Internal and External clients.
  • Assists with the development and supports the implementation of new contract wording
  • Develops and maintains a strong working relationship with various departments within the segment and across segments.
  • Manages small to medium size projects that are driven by a need to update/create/analyze documentation.
  • Maintains and assist in updating treaty procedures.

Proficiencies and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and under pressure
  • Good analytical, problem solving skills and organizational skills with effective time management skills, and the ability to prioritize in a changing environment with competing business demands
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Good oral, written, communication, influencing and negotiation skills; ability to work with cross disciplinary teams and manage informal groups to reach consensus
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong PC skills
  • Strong knowledge of insurance and reinsurance principles, practices and trends; state, provincial, federal and international laws and regulations pertaining to reinsurance and business contracts
  • Knowledge of reinsurance structures arid the important features and differences in each
  • Strong level of detail orientation with the ability to balance detailed knowledge of reinsurance transactions with knowledge of financial implications, risk and exposures, and ability to make recommendations for solutions accordingly
  • Awareness of industry trends related to treaty standards and wording

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

Toronto, Ontario

Salary range is expected to be between

$60,000.00 CAD - $100,000.00 CAD
