Within the Finance Systems team, part of the Group Functions Technology (GFT), the Lead Testing and Automation Engineer oversees quality assurance and automation strategies to ensure the integrity of financial systems and contribute to its modernization. This role is vital for maintaining a robust SOX-compliant infrastructure that supports financial reporting and cash management processes. The director collaborates with multi-functional teams to implement automated testing solutions, improving development efficiency and minimizing deployment risks.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Work with Business teams to identify automation opportunities aligned with architecture, ensuring financial data accuracy and integrity.
  • Develops test strategies, test plans and scripts, reports; translates user expectations to testable requirements, performs required tests in continuous integration/continuous delivery environment to ensure it meets the business requirements
  • Collaborate with other areas in Manulife to attain support that may be required to complete testing and automation initiatives.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation procedures within the department to communicate requirements, design, testing, and implementation strategies and plans for all initiatives
  • Ensure SDLC and change management processes are followed, ensuring compliance with Sox and Audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Information Risk Management team to ensure that security and reliability of all systems is maintained throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Direct timely and detailed investigations and follow-ups to all systems problems, especially Major Incidents as they occur. This includes working closely with Problem Management staff, Delivery Project Executives, and the Manulife CTO Office, while giving timely and comprehensive updates to the Actuarial business team.
  • Contribute to and implement the strategic roadmap which includes a new Manulife experience of cloud-based infrastructure as a service.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Proven experience in software quality assurance and test automation in a lead or managerial role in a QA team.
  • Proficiency with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, Cucumber).
  • Proficiency with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C, or similar, and understanding of version control systems like Git.
  • Experience with agile and/or scrum methodologies. Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools and processes using cloud-based platforms and services
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail and ability to fix complex software issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Preferred qualifications
  • Curiosity about new testing methodologies and tools to drive continuous improvement in QA processes.
  • Knowledge of finance systems or industry-specific regulatory requirements, such as SOX compliance, is a plus.

Salary range is expected to be between

$110,530.00 CAD - $205,270.00 CAD
