The Global Head of Retirement Investment Product will oversee the global strategy, development, and management of retirement investment solutions. Reporting to the Global Head of Product, with a matrix line to the Global Head of Retirement, this role is instrumental in shaping the product management framework, ensuring alignment with GWAM’s global strategy and adherence to industry best practices.
The role will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of retirement investment products, advancing proprietary asset growth, managing third-party partnerships, and identifying opportunities in collaboration with sales and relationship management teams.
This global mandate includes oversight of investment platform strategy across our U.S., Canadian, and Asian Retirement businesses, in close partnership with regional CEOs. Additional responsibilities include establishing a global recordkeeping product framework and governance process, optimizing existing product portfolios, and developing profitability frameworks for both clients and products.
Position Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Contribute to Global Retirement strategy execution as part of the leadership team.
Define and enhance the product management framework aligned with GWAM strategy.
Lead global strategy for retirement investment products to grow proprietary assets.
Oversee recordkeeping product framework, governance, and profitability models.
Optimize product portfolio and ensure delivery of global retirement OKRs.
Manage Trust Company and ensure governance across regions.
Collaborate with CIOs and institutional leaders to advance product priorities.
Ensure risk-aware product development in partnership with GWAM Risk.
Team Management:
Build, lead, and retain a high-performing investment product team.
Collaboration:
Represent investment capabilities to clients and intermediaries.
Partner with Sales, Relationship Management, and Regional Heads to grow proprietary asset share.
Work cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, Customer Experience, Platform, Advice, and Analytics teams.
Incorporate local market needs into global strategies.
Market Intelligence and Engagement:
Identify product opportunities and drive innovation aligned with market trends.
Support user acquisition and retention through competitive product offerings.
As part of the leadership team, participate and lead to achieving shared business goals.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, or a related discipline; an MBA or other advanced degree is strongly preferred.
Extensive experience in product management within the financial services or retirement investment sector.
Demonstrated success in developing and managing high-performing retirement investment products.
Proven leadership capabilities, with a results-driven, agile, and visionary approach to retirement product strategy.
Strong strategic and analytical acumen, with a focus on delivering measurable business outcomes.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.
In-depth knowledge of retirement industry trends, regulatory frameworks, and the competitive landscape.

Salary range is expected to be between
$171,200.00 CAD - $317,700.00 CADIf you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
