Data Governance Engineer

The Data Governance Engineer is responsible for enabling and governing the adoption of the data governance capabilities within the Azure tech stack and beyond. In collaboration with the Platform Engineer Team, AI Team, partners, and data owners within US and globally, the incumbent must have a passion for how data can be trusted and accessed easily so it can be leveraged as a strategic asset for the consumers and producers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Data Governance Lead Product Owner to achieve outcomes defined in the Book of Work and KPIs/OKRs assigned for our segment
  • Support the technical deployment and enablement of the Informatica CDGC and work with vendor to prioritize features on the roadmap
  • Contribute and provide practical guidance around data quality, metadata management, data access and security
  • Ensure all data management processes conform to standard operating procedures and aligns with a modern data architecture & enterprise technology standards and policies including the Global EDL standards
  • Support the Data Quality program including data profiling, write data quality rules, tables mapping based on the critical data elements defined, data quality score and monitoring, DQ production deployment
  • Design, upgrade, and implement innovative data workflows, automation, tools, and API integrations
  • Work with Lead Product Owner and global counterparts to promote a data driven culture through data literacy programs and standard methodologies
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement through evaluation and Proof of Concept of new data technologies and capabilities that are value-driven to the organization

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years professional experience in big data management including a university degree in Engineering, IT, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent program
  • Experienced knowledge of data governance concepts, not limited to metadata, data quality, lineage, data protection, and organizational accountability
  • Expertise in data technologies and the use of data to support software development, advanced analytics, AI, and reporting
  • Extensive experience implementing data storage solutions, leading, and developing data processing, and optimizing data solutions(Azure) Expertise in integrating, transforming, and consolidating data from structured and unstructured data systems suitable for analytics solutions
  • Understanding of parallel processing and data architecture patterns
  • Knowledgeable in data processing languages such as SQL, Python, Go, Java, or Scala.
  • Experience in building secure data processing pipelines using Azure data services.
  • Knowledge of basic TCP/IP protocols, REST and RPC protocols
  • Familiar in developing code in IDE’s like VSCode, PyCharm etc. with knowledge of basic code versioning in GIT

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Azure Storage Explorer/Data Studio, Data Bricks Unity Catalogue, Azure Data Lake Gen 2, Informatica
  • Ability to work with minimal or no supervision; ability and initiative to prioritize various functions vital to accomplish department activities or goals and be a strong teammate

Salary range is expected to be between

$86,100.00 CAD - $136,100.00 CAD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
