Bilingual Director of National Accounts - Broker Channel

Reporting to the Head of National Accounts, this role will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with mid to senior level executives and broker sales support roles of an assigned group of distributor firms (national accounts) in order to maximize profitable mortgage volume growth and ensure optimal representation of the Manulife Bank brand at firm-level and industry-level events. The primary customer in this role will be high-producing mortgage broker firms as well as key mortgage broker franchise within those key networks. Successful management of these relationships will create business opportunities for Manulife Bank; critical to that success is the ongoing communication with key Manulife stakeholders as well as a collaborative and strategic approach to distributor firm coverage.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate opportunities for Manulife Bank to participate in distributor firm events and conferences and negotiate level of participation, ensuring strategic alignment for Manulife Bank and the client firm (25%)

  • Acts as primary contact and support for national sales relationships, associated senior level executives and national and regional broker support roles for strategic national account firms to maximize desired growth and retention. (25%)

  • Collaborates with the Manulife Bank broker sales team on our market presence and sales performance with identified key broker franchises within their portfolio of assigned key firms (10%)

  • Prepares and delivers educational presentations, on occasion in collaboration with subject matter experts, to advanced market specialists, broker support roles and advisors at national or regional firm events. (10%)

  • Represents Manulife Bank at industry and firm events to further position Manulife Bank as a premier provider of banking solutions. (10%)

  • Works closely with the bank’s outside and inside sales teams to ensure ongoing sharing and management of distributor firm corporate intelligence with key stakeholders. (10%)

  • Identifies additional lines of business and opportunities for relationship expansion for the Bank. (5%)

  • Works closely with Manulife's Key Account partners (Life, Wealth, Affinity) to work as one to our distributors to better serve and grow sales. (5%)

Required Qualifications:

  • 10 plus years’ experience in the financial services industry and mortgage broker channel.

  • Fully bilingual (French/English): The successful candidate will be required to communicate in English and French in order to support clients from various jurisdictions outside of Quebec.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows/Office is required

  • Extensive and thorough knowledge of financial services in the referral channel

  • Solid understanding of financial services industry

  • Has a proven track record in a sales role

  • Undergraduate degree preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent relationship management skills

  • Solid understanding of the financial services industry in the mortgage broker channel

  • In depth knowledge of Banking regulations as asset

  • Industry designations an asset (CFA, CFP, PFP, AMP, CIM)

  • Strong ability to originate, communicate and execute ideas

  • Solid, persuasive and genuine communication and presentation skills

  • Proactive and committed team player

  • Ability to build effective partnerships
