Bilingual Appeals Specialist

The Appeals Specialist is responsible for assessing Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD), and Life Waiver (LW) appeals, ensuring fair, well‑supported, and timely decisions. This role works closely with our Absence Management and Disability Centers of Excellence and provides feedback, coaching, and mentorship to Case Managers.

Appeal reviews require strong analysis of contractual and program requirements, medical and functional evidence, and the application of best‑practice case management principles.

This position demands strong organizational and communication skills to manage a high volume, time sensitive workload and to communicate benefit decisions effectively to customers and internal partners. You will join a collaborative, high-performing team dedicated to delivering exceptional service in a fast‑paced environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assessing and managing appeals for group disability benefits claims

  • Provide optimum levels of leadership, encouragement, training and support to help others succeed while maintaining a positive and innovative atmosphere

  • Develop and maintain relationships with the teams and key stakeholders

  • Develop and comply with the systems, procedures, rules, objectives and timescales set by the organization and take a disciplined approach when undertaking tasks

  • Drive business and service outcomes

Required Qualifications:

  • Fully bilingual (French/English): The successful candidate will be required to communicate in English and French in order to support clients from various jurisdictions outside of Quebec.

  • A university degree in a relevant field

  • Deep knowledge of disability products, processes, and best practices.

  • 2-3 years of proven coaching, mentoring and talent developing

  • Background in disability management, case management, health care related fields primarily.

Salary range is expected to be between

$59,700.00 CAD - $99,500.00 CAD
