Manulife’s Global Wealth & Asset Management (Global WAM) segment has embarked on an exciting journey that is transforming the organization by harnessing the power of data and related analytics.
We have an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about harnessing the power of data and brings to the table robust technical expertise coupled with strong communications skills.
The Chief Data Office in close partnership with key business stakeholders, Global WAM Operations and Information Services will support the transformation of the organization to ensure data is leveraged as a strategic asset supporting our business goals. The group’s objectives include:
A single, central source for data which is easy to access and describes how the data was obtained
Data quality continually monitored and accuracy improved
Common standards and policies for data governance
Flexible reporting tools to access data and adapt to changing business or regulatory requirements
The Analyst, Data Quality and Governance will be a key member of a team of data professionals responsible for establishing and driving the successful adoption of the data governance program in Manulife’s Global WAM segment. They will bring together their technical expertise, business knowledge and communications skills to enable deployment of Data Quality (DQ) and Data Governance (DG) in GWAM.
Position Responsibilities:
Support the processes related to the segment’s data quality monitoring program, including the translation of business data quality requirements into SQL code.
Analyze and monitor data quality reports to help identify systemic issues and resolution options.
Assist with increasing data quality and data governance awareness using effective and innovative communications tactics across Global WAM.
Apply change management principles and utilize appropriate messaging/positioning to drive adoption of complex, unfamiliar concepts with a broad stakeholder group.
Support the establishment Global WAM’s data governance program, including Frameworks, Policies, Processes, and Tools.
Collaborate with all groups within the Chief Data Office to ensure alignment across data functions and on target delivery of the group’s goals.
Support the development of Data Governance processes such as metadata management, data access and data sharing.
Support the coordination of executive-level Data Council meetings.
Take personal accountability for issue resolution and instill accountability within team members.
Drive team alignment with the Data Strategy.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in business, economics, engineering or a quantitative discipline with asset management or financial services industry experience;
1-3 years of relevant work experience (or, graduate students with few co-op terms)
Proficiency in database query language (i.e SQL) and extensive knowledge on Excel for data analysis
Experience bridging the business and technology worlds with the ability to effectively collaborate across teams to achieve desired outcomes.
Open for disciplines and feedbacks to grow further and absorb different aspects
Being accountable with high work ethic to deliver results
Experience in Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, Power BI, or similar working tools
Tenacity to push past challenges while maintaining focus on the objective is essential.

Salary range is expected to be between
$61,350.00 CAD - $102,250.00 CADIf you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
