Job Responsibilities:

PRIMARY FUNCTION
  • Operate scheduled production equipment on a daily basis
  • Operate production equipment and ensure that production targets are met
  • Perform inspection of product produced by following internal and external established requirements a (using standard and advanced measuring equipment)
  • Complete quality documentation as per internal and external requirements
  • Perform TPM inspection and communicate open issues thru internal documentation
  • Participate in continuous improvement
  • Participate in the team environment and communicate issues with production support
  • Train new operators on equipment
  • Perform insert changes and ensure that tool holders are available/ pre set and ready to use for production by using the tool pre-setter
  • Perform setups, first offs and TPM activities on laser welder, Grob, CNC machines, hub and bushing presses
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Grade 12 education with a minimum of 3 years CNC operating experience
  • Knowledge of controls and functions on CNC machines,
  • Advanced knowledge of CNC lathes / machining processes / CNC programming (macro/ sub programs)
  • Advanced CNC tooling knowledge and ability to perform job setups efficiently
  • Strong command of the English language (verbal and written) process -, tooling improvements
  • Sound knowledge of statistical techniques to identify process improvements opportunities
  • Ability to use basic and advanced measuring equipment
  • Good documentation and organizational skills
  • Strong command of the English language (verbal and written)
  • Working knowledge of TS 16949, ISO 14001 systems and WHIMS
  • Laser safety training

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITITES B/U - Dept. Supervisor

  • Basic equipment operation such as turning machines-, conveyors-, pumps-, motors and lights on/off (according to training and to equipment manuals)
  • Follow machine specific operator instructions all the time(CNC, Grob, hub presses, laser welder)
  • Operating production equipment and produce parts to outlined requirements by using the tools provided (quality and quantity)
  • Must be willing to upgrade skills through on the job training
  • Complete all production and quality documentation as per requirement
  • Perform offset adjustments to ensure parts meet quality requirements
  • Ensure that the machine has a valid first off prior to start of operation
  • Perform part inspection by using equipment outlined in the inspection and record results as per the outlined requirements
  • Complete all required production and quality documentation on time
  • Pack product according to the packaging instructions
  • Follow standardized work instructions
  • Produce parts to close tolerances, specifications, on time to ensure high productivity and part quality
  • Stop the process and inform Supervisor Andon Button on Shoplogix whiteboard to submit request for help in case of any non-conformance
  • Escalate issue(s) to Production Team Leader or Production Supervisor; i.e. machine/equipment problem, safety related issue, process is out of control or out of specification & has the authority to stop the line to correct safety or quality issues.
  • Perform offset adjustments to CNC and Grob equipment
  • Ensure that machine and work area is clean at all times, Follow the GAP PLAN of 5S standard
  • Train new operators on equipment and product according to requirements
  • Ensure that work area is kept clean at all times
  • Monitor and record tool life (where applicable)
  • Perform TPM activities such as top up oil levels, mirror cleaning, clean nozzles (laser welding, CNC, Grob machines) and/or MAFACT activities where applicable.
  • Preset redundant tooling on the CNC tool pre-setter and change inserts when required
  • Change punches and bushings when required - on Grob slotters
  • Perform machine setups and first off’s as per requirement (Laser welder, CNC’s, Grob, Hub presses)
  • Complete and verify GROB/CNC changeover checklist and ensure that all aspects are completed before running
  • Provide training to operators on new programs and complete required training documentation

SAFETY

  • Observes all legislative requirements including but not limited to Section 27 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act

    work in the manner and with the protective devices, measures and procedures required by the Act and the regulations

    use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that Pullmatic Mfg. requires to be used or worn

    Advises workers of the existence of any potential or actual danger to the health or safety of the worker of which you are aware of

    Takes every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection.

  • Ensures that safe working procedure as per 5S are adhered to at all times
  • Follows ISO 14001, 45001, and Health & Safety policies
  • Assist in creating modified jobs when required (Physical Demands Analysis)
  • Corrects unsafe acts and conditions on a timely basis
  • Ensures the department is kept clean, orderly and safe at all times

GENERAL

  • Comply with legislative requirements including but not limited to Section 28 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Use or wear equipment, protective devices or clothing that Pullmatic Mfg. requires to be used or worn
  • Report hazards to your supervisor/manager that you are aware of
  • Will not operate anything or work in a manner that may cause danger
  • Ensure TS16949 & ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 compliance
  • Awareness of all relevant Customer Requirements pertaining to your job function
  • Treat your fellow workers as you would like to be treated
  • Follow guidelines, systems & rules as set out by your employee handbook & company policies
  • Keep your workplace clean & tidy at all times

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to lift tooling up to 20 kg to setup machines
  • Work as a team with fellow team members and personnel of other departments
  • Participate in team problem solving preventative / corrective action as required
  • Exchanges work knowledge in a team environment
  • Any other duties that may be assigned
