Program Director - Surgery Program

Position Summary:

Reporting to the AVP Associate Vice President, Acute Care Clinical Transformation and Growth.

Program Director, Surgical and Perioperative Services is responsible for all activities related to the administrative and patient care functions within the designated portfolio, including patient care delivery, operational planning, HR development, financial management, quality management and education and research. The Program Director will work in collaboration with clinical and program leaders to ensure activities and programs are consistent with Mackenzie Health’s strategic goals and objectives and that efficient/effective administrative and clinical practices are provided.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring excellence in patient care and service delivery through continuous quality improvement processes;
  • Liaising and collaborating with internal and external professionals and stakeholders to ensure practice standards are aligned and integrated across and within the Surgical Program;
  • Working with physicians in the development of patient care and unit management policies and procedures;
  • Understanding the organization’s global approach, including ability to compete within the LHIN and other relevant economic, environmental, and political factors;
  • Provides guidance, leadership and direction to the interdisciplinary team and acts as a consultant and resource, while promoting a spirit of critical inquiry and analysis among staff in the provision of client care

Qualifications:

  • Regulated Health Professional with Masters level preparation in Health or Business Management
  • Perioperative Nursing Certificate preferred
  • 3-5 years perioperative nursing experience an
  • Management experience of at least 5 years in middle level
  • Previous experience at the Director level preferred
  • Progressive leadership experience in quality, resource and utilization management and
  • Superior interpersonal, change management, team building, communication, and critical thinking
  • Superior financial and statistical management abilities; including the ability to assess, interpret and project budgetary needs.
  • Program planning and evaluation
  • Demonstrated ability to discern relevant information in support of quick and effective decision-making.
  • Ability to function effectively during periods of rapid change and
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service and conflict resolution

  • Proven attendance record.
  • Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
