Salary Range (commensurate with experience)

$128,000 to $148,911

Commencing March 2026 and reporting to the Executive Superintendent of Business and Corporate Services, the Executive Manager of Custodial Services will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and organizational direction for all custodial operations across the School Board. This role ensures that all schools and administrative facilities are clean, safe, healthy, and well-maintained, supporting optimal learning and working environments. The Executive Manager oversees custodial staffing, training, compliance, budgeting, and service standards while collaborating with senior leadership on long-term facility planning and operational excellence.

Duties, Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Provide strategic leadership for district-wide custodial services, establishing standards for cleaning, sanitation, safety, and facility care in alignment with board goals, regulatory requirements, and public health standards.
  • Lead, mentor, supervise, and evaluate custodial supervisors and staff to ensure consistent service delivery, high performance, and a culture of safety, equity, inclusiveness, and continuous improvement.
  • Plan, coordinate, inspect, and audit custodial operations across all schools and board facilities, including quality assurance programs, performance metrics, and compliance monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with provincial regulations, board policies, WHMIS, infection control, environmental standards, and emergency response procedures; lead incident and contamination response as required.
  • Manage custodial services budget, staffing models, workload analysis, procurement of supplies, equipment and contracts.
  • Promote a culture of safety through training, hazard assessments, health and safety, and emergency preparedness.
  • Collaborate with Facilities, Operations, Business Services and Learning Services, People and Culture, Health and Safety School Administration on maintenance coordination, emergency response, capital planning and learning spaces.
  • Serve as primary liaison with school administrators and stakeholders; manage the Community Use of Schools program; respond to service concerns and communicate operational updates to senior leadership, trustees, and community partners.
  • Participate in required committees and management groups and utilize facility management software and digital reporting tools.
  • Post-secondary education in facilities management, operations, or a related field
  • Minimum 5-7 years of leadership experience in custodial or facilities operations (unionized environment preferred); custodial management certification considered an asset.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of custodial practices, sanitation standards, and building systems; strong leadership, communication, conflict-resolution, negotiation, budgeting, and data analysis skills; ability to work flexible hours including on-call and emergency response.
