LMC Pharmacy is a consultation-based pharmacy specializing in diabetes training, education and comprehensive medication assessments.  We are co-located in LMC Healthcare clinics, Canada’s largest specialist care provider in diabetes, endocrinology & metabolism.  

LMC Pharmacy Assistants work collaboratively with the pharmacy and clinic team in ensuring efficient pharmacy operations, delivering excellent patient care, and maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy environment.

Our progressive team is looking for a Pharmacy Assistant to join us on a permanent full-time basis at our LMC Vaughan location. Reporting to the Pharmacists and Pharmacy Operations Manager, the Pharmacy Assistant will support the pharmacy by entering, filling, and preparing medications, both OTC and prescription, as well as participating in the day-to-day workflow management of patients and pharmacy tasks. The role provides a unique opportunity to practice in a clinical environment with a team of top specialists in diabetes and endocrinology.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Entering and managing patient pharmacy profiles.
  • Entering, filling, and processing prescription orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Prepare and label medications for dispensing.
  • Manage and troubleshoot adjudication and third-party insurance issues.
  • Assist in preparing blister packs or compliance packaging, as required.
  • Help coordinate prescription deliveries and pickups.
  • Handle cash register transactions and point-of-sale activities.
  • Managing refill calls, patient reminder calls and other patient communications.
  • Manage inventory: receive, unpack, and store pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy.
  • Follow proper procedures for recordkeeping and privacy (e.g., HIPAA/PIPEDA compliance).
  • Working with the Pharmacists and the Diabetes Education team to assist patients’ diabetes management.
  • Collaborating with endocrinologists and other team members to provide the best care to visiting clients.
  • Supporting all responsibilities related to pharmacy and clinic operations.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Pharmacy Assistant certificate or related experience required.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of previous retail pharmacy experience required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and pharmacy software (e.g., Kroll) is an asset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Commitment to patient care and confidentiality.
  • Availability Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with flexibility to provide infrequent after-hour service as needed.
  • Experience with an EMR system an asset.
  • Experience with diabetes patients an asset.
