Position Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Employee Relations, the successful candidate will provide HR consulting services to the Ontario and British Columbia Operations Leadership team on complex Human Resources matters and support the implementation of HR policies, programs and practices that enable managers to achieve their business objectives, build engagement, and deliver LifeLabs’ People Strategy. The HRC serves as a trusted advisor to people managers, providing expert guidance on employee/labour relations matters, this role supports the resolution of workplace issues, ensures compliance with employment legislation, and promotes a positive and inclusive work environment.
What You’ll Do:
HR Consulting
- Provide people leaders with strategic and consultative services in assigned client groups to assist them with complex people matters and to support the delivery of LifeLabs people strategy.
- Assist people leaders to effectively apply HR policies, collective agreements, and programs to ensure consistency in interpretation and application.
- Actively identify and evaluate people impacts and risks associated with organizational change.
- Participate in implementing organizational change initiatives such as acquisitions, closures, automation, process changes etc., including comprehensive people plans to support the organizational change and collaborating with the Centres of Excellence.
- Participate in Business and/or Operations Management Team meetings and proactively provide advice, guidance and education to support HR programs, HR policy and the People Strategy.
- Provide advice and counsel to people leaders on recruiting, developing and retaining critical talent; partner with talent acquisition and hiring leaders to support recruiting activities.
- Monitor, track and summarize HR metrics leveraging existing HR reporting and analytics as appropriate, including collecting and analyzing data for trends, and providing recommendations.
- Identify HR data and analysis needs of assigned client groups to HR Analytics and partner to support business leader needs.
- Lead end-to-end HR related projects in collaboration with business leaders and HR Centres of Excellence as needed.
HR Programs
- Work in conjunction with HR Centres of Excellence in implementing, within assigned client groups corporate HR programs and processes in the areas of Talent and Succession planning, performance management, employee relations, labour relations, wellness, employee engagement, total rewards and culture
- Strive for continuous improvement and participate and/or lead HR projects that support overall HR goals and objectives.
- Participate in implementing organizational change initiatives and participate in cross-functional teams and projects as required.
- Implement process improvement techniques to ensure efficiency, quality and productivity of all HR, resources, processes and policies with continuous feedback loops across the HR operating model.
Employee & Labour Relations
- Provide expertise, advice and guidance to leaders to ensure positive employee/management, management/labour relationships and assist with achieving overall business objectives.
- Provide coaching and guidance to internal client groups to assist in resolving full cycle employee relations/labour relations issues.
- Educate leadership teams on effective coaching, including advising on when to move into progressive discipline and requirements under the collective agreements.
- Provide guidance, tools, and direct support in the handling of labour and employee relations issues including grievances.
- Conduct and manage investigations of HR-related complaints and concerns; assessing the severity, involving appropriate individuals and facilitating appropriate action.
- Consult with the HRBP team and ER/LR COE to discuss areas of risk and potential resolution, and/or to identify trends. Plan and deliver effective communication of findings to appropriate leaders and other stakeholders as required and influence positive outcomes.
What You'll Bring:
- University Degree or College diploma in Human Resources
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a unionized setting
- CHRP designation is preferred
- Understanding of HR governance, legislation, and regulatory environment to identify issues, build programs and appropriately advise managers.
- Demonstrated consultative and Problem-solving skills, ability to determine root cause of complex issues and arrive at sound HR/Business solutions.
- Strong leadership, coaching, facilitation skills
- Strong investigation and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation, client relationships, organizational, leadership and project management skills.
- Strong communication and influencing skills to effectively communicate complex legal issues and effect change.
- Demonstrated experience in analyzing, interpreting and providing advice to management on the collective agreement.
- Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with all stakeholders including managers, employees and union representatives.
What We Offer: Salary range: $81,431 –103, 825 CAD annually (commensurate with experience)
