Description
Our Medical Lab Technologists provide accurate and timely interpretive and diagnostic specimen testing and reporting. Through accuracy, quality, efficiency and expediting test results, you will contribute to patient well-being and the achievement of better health outcomes. LifeLabs facilities are also known as teaching laboratories and offer opportunities to share knowledge in a collaborative environment. You will have 24-hour medical support through our Medical Science team and Medical Library, and the ability to teach our college and university student placements.
Status: Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Shift: This shift is Full-Time with set Monday to Friday Evenings only.

This vacancy is for an existing position.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Perform clinical testing and release accurate patient results in accordance with established protocols.
- Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and equipment.
- Conduct and monitor quality control procedures; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Validate new reagent lots and support implementation of new methods and instrumentation.
- Utilize laboratory information systems for specimen processing, test management, and result reporting.
- Participate in external proficiency testing and post‑software upgrade validations.
- Maintain expertise in specimen handling, critical values, rejection criteria, storage requirements, and test-specific protocols.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory quality standards, safety policies, WHMIS, and chemical hygiene regulations.
- Support team effectiveness through training, documentation updates, and process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and organizational information.
What you will bring to the role:
- Registration through CAMLPR pathways or certification with CSMLS.
- Recent experience in the relevant laboratory discipline is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Windows-based systems and laboratory software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
