Description
Our Medical Lab Technologists provide accurate and timely interpretive and diagnostic specimen testing and reporting. Through accuracy, quality, efficiency and expediting test results, you will contribute to patient well-being and the achievement of better health outcomes. LifeLabs facilities are also known as teaching laboratories and offer opportunities to share knowledge in a collaborative environment. You will have 24-hour medical support through our Medical Science team and Medical Library, and the ability to teach our college and university student placements.

Additional Requirements: This position will be temporary with an end date of February 27, 2027 with possibility of extension. The position will be a set Tuesday to Saturday FLOAT. This means that the employee will be scheduled Tuesday to Saturday weekly and can be scheduled mornings, evenings, graveyard.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting a wide range of diagnostic and interpretive specimen testing.
- Prepare and process samples, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation.
- Performing, interpreting and releasing results, while ensuring the confidentiality of patient information.
- Identifying incidents and non-conformities, participating in the development of effective corrective action plans, escalating as appropriate and driving continuous improvement.
- Assisting with the evaluation and implementation of new technology.
- Participating in problem solving in work organization and workflow.
- Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality assurance standards.
What you will bring to the role:
- College diploma or University degree in Medical Laboratory Science, or equivalent education and/or experience.
- CSMLS registered and in good standing.
- Excellent communication skills to enable you to relate with a wide variety of people.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment while adhering to LifeLabs standards of safety, accuracy and efficiency.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail who demonstrates curiosity.
- Ability to distinguish multiple colors.
- Strong computer skills in MS Office products, as well as laboratory analyzers.
- Problem solving skills, including the ability to identify and follow-up on issues.
- Ability to maintain the strictest standards of safety, patient privacy and confidentiality.
