This vacancy is for an existing position. 

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: The Sr System Administrator works to support computing infrastructure and enterprise applications that provide services to LifeLabs. S/he is also responsible for executing projects to enhance existing or develop new capabilities.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for working with project teams to design, build, test and implement medium and high complexity project environments.
  • May design, build and test different configurations to identify the appropriate solution
  • Responsible for maintaining infrastructure systems and business application servers.
  • Troubleshoot and Resolves Level 3 system problems either independently or as part of a team, seeks and obtains support from software vendors, hardware manufacturers and/or appropriate in-house experts if needed.
  • Designs deployment architecture for medium and complex development projects
  • Work with other members of the IT team to test new technologies and methodologies.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

# of years: 5-7 years of progressive systems experience in a large scale, complex environment

  • Technical knowledge in Linux systems administration, including Red Hat, Ubuntu, and IBM AIX, as well as virtualization platforms such as VMware and KVM
  • Experience with storage and backup solutions, including Commvault, NetBackup, or similar enterprise backup platforms
  • Solid foundational knowledge in Networking, VPNs, Firewalls, and troubleshooting IP connectivity and port issues
  • Experience with Linux system monitoring and configuration tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, Ansible, or Red Hat Satellite
  • Familiarity with system automation, scripting (e.g., Bash, Python), and configuration management tools like Puppet or Ansible
  • Demonstrates diplomacy, teamwork, negotiation, collaboration, and creative problem-solving
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good project management skills
  • Strong customer service skills to deliver quality results
  • Self-motivator, possessing a high sense of urgency and a high level of integrity while acting in a professional manner
