THE CHALLENGE

Reporting to the Production Director, the incumbent is responsible for ensuring the achievement of productivity objectives and the completion of tasks by the team under their responsibility.

YOUR DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and motivate a team of production employees.
• Participate in setting production priorities and strategies, ensuring their execution.
• Support the management team in implementing the department strategic directions.
• Reduce costs and provide reliable data for management decision-making.
• Monitor maintenance and upkeep routines.
• Analyze production plans and work orders.
• Distribute work orders to various workshops to communicate the quantity, type of items to be produced, and production deadlines.
• Plan and assess the use of human and material resources necessary for production to enhance profitability and efficiency.
• Consult team leaders to stay informed about work progress and the time required for production and delivery.
• Draft and update reports on the progress of production-related tasks.
• Ensure the transmission of data between the production department and administrative units.
• Inform team leaders of any recommended changes in work methods by the engineering department.
• Ensure compliance with environmental standards, regulations, and operational guidelines.
• Guarantee the profitability of operations and the safety of production procedures.
• Collaborate with the quality manager to implement corrective measures ensuring the quality of finished products.
• Coordinate transportation and logistics with project managers and external suppliers.
• Conduct performance evaluations for personnel under your supervision.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• College or a university degree in industrial engineering, production management, operations management, or other relevant education or experience.
• Five years of experience in a factory setting, including industrial manufacturing management and personnel supervision.
• Understanding of Lean tools such as 5S, value-added processes, and Kanban.
• Proficiency in daily management concepts, including planning, communication, problem-solving, and operational decision-making.
• Knowledge of collective agreements, worker rights, and labor relations procedures.
• Ability to set clear and measurable goals for the production team.
• Coaching skills.
• Managerial courage.
• Ability to effectively identify, analyze, and resolve operational issues.
• Knowledge of the metal manufacturing sector (Asset).
• Familiarity with welding techniques (GMAW, MCAW, FCAW, SMAW).
• Understanding of welding techniques and CSA standards (Asset).
• Knowledge of key occupational health and safety laws and regulations.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
