What is your role in the company?

Reporting to the Purchasing manager, the buyer is responsible for the strategic and operational management of supplies for the company's various divisions. He or she works to optimize costs, lead times, and product quality, while maintaining excellent relationships with suppliers and manufacturers, both locally and internationally.

A true internal partner, the buyer collaborates with various departments to ensure efficient procurement that is compliant and aligned with the organization's needs.

Your duties and responsibilities

  • Negotiate purchasing terms to optimize costs and profitability;
  • Plan and manage the entire purchasing process, from purchase requests to product receipt;
  • Identify, evaluate, and approve new suppliers, both local and international;
  • Analyze market trends, costs, and performance indicators to recommend optimized purchasing strategies;
  • Track orders and ensure product compliance with applicable standards and regulations;
  • Manage procurement priorities according to the needs of different divisions;
  • Monitor and resolve issues related to shortages, returns, or billing discrepancies;
  • Maximize discounts and purchasing opportunities in the normal course of business;
  • Maintain constant and effective communication with internal departments (sales, logistics, customer service, etc.);
  • Collaborate in the development and updating of purchasing policies and procedures;
  • Prepare analytical reports (purchases, prices, deadlines, supplier performance);
  • Participate in updating data in the ERP system (orders, B/O, prices, etc.);
  • Constantly monitor new trends, products, and market opportunities;
  • Represent the company at events, trade shows, workshops, or training sessions in the field.

Our ideal candidate

  • Relevant education in supply chain management, logistics, administration, or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in a similar role in purchasing or procurement
  • Excellent communication, persuasion, and negotiation skills
  • Bilingualism in French and English required, both spoken and written;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (data analysis, pivot tables, formulas);
  • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking in decision-making;
  • Results-oriented and highly responsible;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a dynamic environment;
  • Highly rigorous, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines;
  • Ability to work as part of a team while being independent and proactive;
  • Professional and respectful attitude in internal and external relationships.
  • Good understanding of logistics, customs, and import processes (a significant asset);
  • Excellent knowledge of the automotive, industrial, or distribution sector (an asset);
