Carpenter — Restoration

About the role

You rebuild. Once the loss is under control and the building is dry, you are the one who brings it back to its original condition: framing, drywall, doors, mouldings, cabinets and finishing.

Unlike new construction, every job is different and you work within existing structures: occupied homes, commercial buildings still in operation, details that must be matched exactly. This is full-scope carpentry, not repetitive work.

Key responsibilities

Reconstruction work:

  • Perform framing work: walls, floors, joists and roof structures
  • Install and finish drywall, taping and surface preparation
  • Install doors, frames, mouldings, baseboards and trim
  • Install flooring, cabinetry and countertops
  • Match existing finishes and details so repairs blend in seamlessly
  • Carry out exterior work: siding, soffits, fascia and windows

On the job site:

  • Read and interpret plans, sketches and reconstruction scopes of work
  • Estimate material quantities and report needs to the project manager
  • Protect the premises and the policyholder's belongings during the work
  • Follow health and safety regulations and the Construction Code
  • Coordinate your work with the other trades on site
  • Promptly report any hidden or unexpected conditions found during the work

What we are looking for

  • DEP in carpentry or equivalent recognized experience
  • Experience in renovation or restoration work is a strong asset
  • CCQ competency card is an asset, but not required
  • Versatility: comfortable with both rough framing and finish work
  • Autonomy and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Attention to detail: in restoration, the repair should be invisible
  • Professional and tidy: you often work in occupied homes
  • Valid ASP Construction (health and safety) card, or willing to obtain one
  • Valid driver's licence and personal hand tools

What we offer

  • Permanent, full-time position
  • Day shift, Monday to Friday
  • Salary based on experience and prevailing rates
  • Specialized tooling and safety equipment provided
  • Location: Salaberry-de-Valleyfield — job sites across Montreal and Monteregie

Why join Première Générale

  • No two job sites alike: residential, commercial and institutional
  • Real carpentry work: full reconstruction, not repetitive tasks
  • Stable day schedule with no emergency on-call rotation
  • An experienced, well-established restoration team
  • Work that matters: you put people back in their home or business
