Position Summary:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineering Technologist will be responsible for participating in the production start-up preparation process with the Engineering Department team. He or she will work with other departments to use appropriate work methods to optimize production. In addition, he/she will ensure that all tasks he/she performs are carried out in compliance with health and safety rules, laws and regulations as well as the company's policies.

More specifically, he or she will be called upon to:

  • Design sheet metal parts and welded assemblies;
  • Develop and/or improve dump body models;
  • Adapt and program products to custom dimensions;
  • Enter current order parameters into production software;
  • Prepare batches of parts for factory plasma cutting;
  • Actively interact with plant sales and production departments to provide technical support for project and job progress;
  • Assist the engineering team in solving assembly, bending and factory cutting problems;
  • And all other related responsibilities.

Profile sought:

The Mechanical Engineering Technologist is a key player in the success of our operations, with a positive attitude and the ability to take the initiative by promoting cooperation, transparency, rigor and respect within a multidisciplinary and diversified team.

Results-oriented, the candidate must also be recognized for his or her ability to analyze and synthesize, as well as for his or her speed of execution and thoroughness, in order to successfully bring our tippers into production. His or her sound judgment enables him or her to make concerted, professional recommendations.

The candidate does not hesitate to get involved with the engineering team in problem-solving and is able to propose concrete solutions while being open to consulting experienced production employees in order to pursue our synergy of continuous improvement and best practices.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Have a minimum of 3 years' experience in industrial manufacturing
  • College or university degree in mechanical engineering
  • Bilingualism (French, English) oral (essential) and written (an important asset)
  • Good knowledge of Autocad suite and Autodesk Inventor or similar software (an important asset)
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Responsible and able to work under pressure to keep pace with our production lines.
  • Able to prioritize and work on a multitude of projects in parallel
  • Favors good collaboration with other members of a multidisciplinary and diversified team
  • Ability to exercise excellent judgment and escalate problems as needed
  • Very good computer skills (MS Office Suite, especially MS Excel and ERP software)
  • Ability to work safely at all times and a good sense of humor are essential!
