Description

You are a seasoned Superintendent with 5+ years of field operations experience on multi-disciplinary, large-scale commercial construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for the smooth, day-to-day management of field activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, on budget, and to the highest standards of quality. You will develop and implement project plans and schedules, uphold company safety and quality programs, and direct the work of field staff, contractors, and trades.

Working independently with minimal guidance, you will serve as a resource for less-experienced team members while supporting the successful execution of project goals and contributing to the organization’s long-term success.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee staff to ensure the successful delivery of construction projects to completion
  • Promotes the overall site safety program including subcontractor compliance with Ledcor standards, the Health Safety and Environmental Plan (HSE Plan), and all applicable OH&S acts, regulations, and codes
  • Ensures that field staff are equipped with the resources required to efficiently complete projects according to approved plans, specifications and applicable building codes
  • Actively participates in the pre-bid and preconstruction process regarding site layout, logistics, scheduling, and workforce planning
  • Ensures project execution aligns with Ledcor’s Construction Operations Manual and takes ownership of developing the Project Quality Program (PQP)
  • Review and maintain schedule, ensure milestones are met, identify scheduling issues and delays and lead solution development
  • Maintains strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients/consultants
  • Supports and promotes Ledcor’s core values of safety, quality, integrity, sustainability and success
  • Managing hourly employees as required, including forepersons, carpenters, and labour staff

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of construction experience in a Superintendent position or similar
  • Combination of work experience in a similar role and industry-related trade certification/education
  • Expertise in safety within the organization and knowledge of OH&S and Environmental standards and regulations
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, and the ability to work with senior management
  • Strong technical knowledge of modern construction practices, documents, drawings, schedules, technologies, equipment, industry practices and contract negotiations
  • Expertise in coaching and developing team members through constructive feedback and providing opportunities for development
  • Ability to anticipate problems and challenges, while providing leadership in creating innovative solutions to achieve organizational objectives

Working Conditions:

  • Site-based position in Edmonton, AB
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Ability to successfully pass a drug and alcohol test
