Description
You are a highly skilled supervisor/foreperson to support construction, installation, and maintenance or overhead and underground powerlines in Saskatchewan. You will play a key role in fostering the culture within your project scope by actively participating in daily safety meetings and/or toolbox talks, supporting the HS&E coordination in reporting requirements, and actively contributing to incidents investigations. Essential Responsibilities:
- Ensure that field crew/subcontractors are adhering to, and actively participating in, daily Tailboard meetings/ weekly safety meetings to safely plan daily activities
- Ensure projects are built according to designs, SaskPower standards, while utilizing valid locates while documenting progress and actively reporting
- Actively liaises with Project Stakeholders, Representatives, Landowners, clients and 3rd parties
- Continues monitoring of day-to-day site operations
- Active participation in construct, inspect, and maintain overhead and underground power distribution systems
- Troubleshoot and repair distribution powerline systems
- Read and interpret construction drawings, work plans, and schematics
- Track daily production, material usage, and support logistics and crew coordination
- Train and support junior workers or apprentices on proper work practices
- Follow and promote strict safety practices, adhering to all OH&S standards and LTS work rules
Qualifications:
- Journeyman Powerline Technician with 5-10 years of experience as a Supervisor/Foreperson
- Ability to plan and manage a project schedule, developing potential solutions to high-risk work within defined guidelines
- Ability to communicate clearly, collaborating with multiple project stakeholders while building and managing a diverse team
- Strong knowledge of Distribution powerline construction methods, tools, and safety procedures
- Ability to work from heights, climb power poles, work from a bucket truck or man-lifts
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings
- Class 5 driver’s license required: Class 1A or 3 preferred. Able and willing to provide an acceptable five (5) year Driver’s abstract
- Successful completion of pre-employment/pre-access requirements which include drug and alcohol screening, as well as hearing
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Working Conditions:
- Outdoor work in diverse and sometime extreme weather conditions
- Overtime and weekend work may be needed to meet project deadlines. Ability to work long shifts, 10-12 hour days, in all types of weather
- Ability to travel extensively throughout Saskatchewan. Travel to job sites will be required depending on project locations
