Estimator

Description

You are an Estimator with 5+ years of experience working on multi-disciplinary commercial, residential or light industrial construction projects. You'll efficiently handle quantity take-offs, cost analyses and sub-trade negotiations using the latest estimating software (OST). Working independently or with minimal supervision, you'll play a key role in preparing hard bid, cost-plus, and design-build estimates for diverse projects.

In this role, you solve complex problems by taking a new perspective on existing solutions and exercise judgment based on analysis of multiple sources of information. You also provide in depth guidance to non estimating personnel on moderately complex estimating requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Incorporates requirements from drawing specifications, terms and conditions into bid.
• Reviews RFI's prior to submission
• Performs quantity takeoffs for large, complex bids and coordinates takeoff activities.
• Leads subcontractor and supplier solicitation.
• Reviews and analyzes quotes, providing data to support subcontractor selection for large, complex bids.
• Develops the estimate, verifying direct and indirect costs.
• Assigns and manages bid package responsibilities.
• Develops and analyzes project schedule and execution schedule for constructability, with input from operations
• Leads estimate reviews and development of bid clarifications

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of related estimating experience
• Strong computer background including experience with MS Office and related estimating software; knowledge of BIM modeling as asset
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of trade-related drawings and specifications, including understanding of construction documents and the ability to assess their level of completeness
• Knowledge of construction costs and budgets, ability to develop a project schedule
• Experience with negotiating and resolving contractual risks, and recommending mitigation practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt message to audience; ability to coach and guide other team members
