Description

Ledcor’s Infrastructure division is growing and taking on exciting new projects in the Light Rail Transit sector. We are seeking a Design Coordinator who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys solving complex problems with innovative solutions.

In this role, you will interact with operations and project staff at all levels, provide technical support in the implementation of project and divisional management plans and help ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Supports the planning, design, and delivery of infrastructure projects including operational/strategic initiatives, contract adherence, safety, schedule, and financial management
  • Reviews and understands contractual requirements, original budget, baseline schedule, and work execution strategy; coordinates with design consultants and interfaces with construction operations to ensure the timely delivery of engineering documentation in compliance with the contractual requirements; reviews and monitors the development of engineering documentation compared to the project baseline
  • Assists with the development of the project deliverables including quality plans, work methods, and management documents; provides input and updates deliverables to address feedback from Managers and Project Owners
  • Coordinates and responds to technical queries from the field and/or external stakeholders to ensure continuity of work through timely resolution of conflicts; summarizes key issues for presentation to the project client
  • Manages the review, distribution, and filing of engineering documentation and other contract documents in accordance with the established project document distribution matrix

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of project/design coordination activities experience
  • Site-based project experience (LRT project experience considered a key asset)
  • Registration with APEGA or ASET is preferred
  • Highly motivated and willing to take initiative
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong communication skills, confident interacting with key contacts in verbal and written form
  • Strong computer background including experience with Microsoft Office and scheduling software, such as Primavera, Smartsheet, or Microsoft Project
  • Experience with other construction planning and management software is an asset (3D model viewers, document management systems, etc.)
  • Knowledge of main construction office processes: project set up; subcontract management; change management; RFIs (request for information) and technical reviews; project closeout
  • Ability to identify problems/issues and generates solutions and makes sound decisions using standard procedures
