We are actively seeking an Engineer 2nd Class to perform operations and mechanical maintenance on tugs, dredges, and other vessels in the Ocean Group fleet. The Mechanical Officer will join the Océan Navigation team and will be required to travel to various locations depending on the project. The position holder may also be required to liaise with the various managers for specific fleet mechanical maintenance needs.

YOUR TALENTS WILL BE USED TO MEET THE FOLLOWING CHALLENGES:

  • Service the main engine and auxiliary equipment.
  • Operate electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic control systems and refueling equipment.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of refrigeration, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Follow preventive maintenance system tasks.
  • Ensure the application of the safety management system for his department.
  • Monitor main engine operating parameters (pressure, temperature, levels) and report any anomalies.
  • Participate and support the activities of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.

Requested skills

  • Canadian 2nd Class Marine Engineer's Certificate (Motor)
  • Certificates of competency:
    • MED Basic Safety STCW
    • Ability to operate lifeboats and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats [PSC]
    • Advanced firefighting techniques Certificate
  • Valid Marine Medical Certificate;
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years experience at sea as an engineer
  • Restricted radio operator certificate (an asset)
  • Willingness to travel frequently to various locations
  • Available for long work trips
  • Arctic work experience (asset)
  • Ability to work on a computer in a Microsoft Office environment
  • Languages: intermediate level in French or English, spoken and written
