Clinical Assistant

Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and dependable Clinical Assistant to support clients and the clinical team in a community-based setting. This role is well suited to someone with experience in case management, corrections, parole, social services, mental health, addictions, or another client-support environment.

The Clinical Assistant helps clients stay connected to services, appointments, and community resources. The successful candidate will build respectful professional relationships, maintain accurate records, and work collaboratively with clinical staff and community partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients and help them understand available programs and services.
  • Support client intake, orientation, appointments, and follow-up activities.
  • Assist the clinical team with gathering information and coordinating services.
  • Maintain regular, professional contact with assigned clients.
  • Help clients identify and access appropriate community resources, such as housing, employment, health care, counselling, and social services.
  • Monitor client participation and promptly share relevant concerns with the appropriate clinical team member.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and confidential client records, case notes, and other required documentation.
  • Communicate with community agencies, justice-system partners, and service providers when authorized.
  • Assist with appointment scheduling, referral tracking, and general program administration.
  • Encourage clients to follow their service plans and recognize progress toward their goals.
  • Respond calmly and professionally to challenging situations and seek support when needed.
  • Follow all organizational policies relating to confidentiality, privacy, safety, and professional conduct.
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and case discussions.
  • Perform other related duties that support clients and the clinical team.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed primarily in an office, clinical, or community-service environment.
  • Some local travel or attendance at community appointments may be required.
  • The position may involve contact with clients experiencing difficult or stressful circumstances.
  • Occasional schedule flexibility may be required, depending on program needs.

Requested skills

Qualifications

  • A college diploma in social services, community and justice services, behavioural sciences, psychology, mental health and addictions, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in case management, community services, corrections, parole or probation services, mental health, addictions, or a similar client-focused environment.
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
  • Experience working with individuals who may face complex personal, social, mental-health, or justice-related challenges is preferred.
  • Bilingualism is a definite asset.
  • The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the position.
