As a Senior Consultant in Data, Analytics and Automation, you will be a part of our Technology Consulting (Data, Analytics and Automation) practice within KPMG. This is a worldwide network of professionals who collaborate on a daily basis to create value from data. Enterprise Data Management integrates and is the connecting link with other data focused advisory services including Business Intelligence, Advanced Analytics, Digital Transformation, Enterprise Solutions and Data Security.

The successful candidate will take part in various business intelligence and data engineering mandates using Databricks technology, which could involve assessing current practices, as well as developing a business intelligence and data engineering strategy, roadmaps, dashboards and performance indicators, devising and validating data models, and analyzing data to support timely decision-making, etc.

 

This role is for a Databricks Data Specialist with strong experience in design/data modeling/development & performance tuning.

 


What you will do

  • Support the design and implementation of Databricks data architecture, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain data models, data warehouses, and data lakes on Databricks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business requirements and develop data solutions.
  • Design, build and test end to end data pipeline including data ingestion (streaming, events, and batch), data integration, data curation.
  • Leverage automation and intelligent code-assistance tools to programmatically generate and evolve data models, transformation logic, and pipeline components, with strong validation and review practices.
  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable data pipelines and ETL processes on cloud-based infrastructure using Azure, AWS, Databricks, DBT, Airflow, Cosmos DB, and accelerate using intelligent code-assistance tools.
  • Define and implement automation of jobs and testing.
  • Optimize data pipelines to support workloads and use cases.
  • Support mission critical applications and near real time data needs from the data platform.
  • Address data issues, environment issues, performing impact analysis, root cause analysis, corrective, adaptive and perfective maintenance.
  • Implement data models, transformations, and schema designs to support analytical and reporting needs, and accelerate using intelligent code-assistance tools.
  • Optimize and tune Databricks performance, including query optimization, resource management, and scaling strategies.
  • Present our Databricks service offerings and develop new service offerings on the platform.
  • Grow the expertise of our regional Databricks CoE with training and certification plans.

 


What you bring to the role

  • University degree in computer science, business intelligence, information architecture, information science, business administration or another related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant business intelligence experience.
  • 2+ years of experience on Databricks development with Databricks certifications.
  • 2+ years of experience using intelligent code-assistance tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, OpenAI, Databricks Assistant) to accelerate data model and pipeline development, with appropriate validation and review
  • Experience in developing and using relational and dimensional models.
  • Good knowledge of SQL (window functions, subqueries, conditional tables, etc.)
  • Strong ability to convey complex information to different organizational levels and stakeholders with different levels of business intelligence maturity.
  • Knowledge of data pipeline development tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Luigi, dbt, stitch, etc.) considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of programming languages in a data pipeline development context (e.g., Java, C#, Python) considered an asset.
  • Experience in Snowflake considered an asset.
  • Professional experience in the financial or insurance industry, considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing suites (AWS, Azure, GCP) considered an asset.
  • Snowflake certifications considered an asset.
