KPMG’s ESG practice provides a full range of advisory and assurance services to clients in both the corporate and public sectors including Oil & Gas, Financial Services, Mining, Utilities, Chemicals and more. Core services include: Sustainability and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy and risk, climate change and decarbonization, Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions inventory, ESG implementation support, sustainable finance, and reporting and assurance.

 

Our ESG practice in Calgary is seeking a motivated and high performing Manager to support the delivery of GHG emissions assurance, regulatory verification and emissions calculations, primarily in the Oil and Gas Industry.


What you will do

  • GHG Emissions inventory and corporate GHG emissions assurance – Support and lead teams on the development of corporate GHG inventory in alignment to the GHG Protocol and leading multi-disciplinary teams on assurance of GHG emissions (Scope 1, 2 and 3) and other ESG metrics like water and diversity and inclusion.
  • GHG and other regulatory verifications – Lead and support teams on regulatory verification under various provincial and federal programs including Alberta, Saskatchewan, BC GHG regulations and other OBPS, under ISO verification standards. This would involve site visits for about 20% of your time. Possible opportunities to contribute to verifications under clean fuel regulations and other programs as well.
  • Climate Risk and Decarbonization – Assist clients with the development of targets, identification of decarbonization opportunities and implementation of TCFD-aligned climate risk strategies and disclosures.
  • Maintain an educational program to continually develop skills
  • Actively mentor and coach team members to their highest potential
  • Create a learning environment through leadership of team members
  • Support client relationships and business development initiatives such as leading proposals, identifying new target clients, and develop “go to market” strategies

What you bring to the role

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering  
  • Master’s degree (MBA, MSc. or Meng.) and P.Eng. is preferred
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in Engineering, GHG emissions verification, ESG or Sustainability in verification agencies, consulting or industry
  • Minimum 3 years of Provincial GHG emissions verification experience in Alberta, SK, BC etc.
  • Understanding of GHG emissions calculations in Upstream and Midstream Oil and Gas, Utilities, including facility and corporate level GHG calculations.
  • Understanding of ISO-14064 verification standards as well as lead verifier/ technical reviewer experience will be an asset
  • Knowledge of leading ESG reporting frameworks (CSDS, SASB, TCFD, GRI etc.) as well as corporate Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions based on the GHG Protocol. Experience with assurance of ESG information based on CSAE/ISAE standards would be considered an asset, but is not mandatory.
  • Experience in drafting reports and deliverables for senior management and executives.
