KPMG Law LLP is a national law firm affiliated with the professional services firm of KPMG LLP, with offices in major markets across Canada. As an integrated, multidisciplinary firm, our lawyers work closely with accountants and other professionals on complex client engagements across a broad range of legal and tax-related practice areas.
KPMG Law is seeking an Engagement Analyst to join the Billing Delivery Centre on a 12-month contract. In this role, you will support Law leadership in achieving key business and financial objectives through engagement analysis, billing operations, financial reporting, and trust accounting administration.
This is an opportunity to build broad exposure across KPMG, work with a variety of stakeholders and practice areas, and help shape how the role and its processes evolve. The position is well suited to someone who enjoys varied work, brings a strong accounting foundation, and looks for practical ways to improve processes.
What you will do
- Conduct financial and operational analyses for significant client accounts and provide insights to partners and managers
- Review and process complex financial transactions, including accounts receivable reserves, write-offs, refund requests, billing maintenance, and related communications
- Monitor engagement journal entry requests, identify trends and errors, and recommend process improvements
- Provide ongoing support to Billing Specialists on billing processes and systems and serve as a subject matter resource
- Investigate and coordinate billing corrections, adjustments, and system-related issues, including ad hoc reporting and analysis
- Prepare regular financial, engagement, lockup, and exception reports and communicate findings to Law leadership, partners, and managers
- Collaborate with Financial Analysts to maintain data integrity through reviews of engagement coding, service codes, reporting requirements, suspended time follow-up, and periodic WIP and A/R valuations
- Process, reconcile, and maintain trust transactions and documentation while ensuring compliance with Law Society regulations and firm risk requirements
- Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to strengthen reporting, processes, and ways of working
What you bring to the role
- College diploma or university degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes, supported by experience with invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, billing, or related work
- Minimum of two years of experience in finance, accounting, billing, or engagement management
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, reporting, sorting, and filtering
- Experience in an engagement management coordinator role is considered an asset
- Knowledge of trust accounting processes and regulatory requirements is considered an asset
- Proven analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and recommend practical solutions
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Comfort working with a range of stakeholders and adapting to varied responsibilities
- Knowledge of IBS is considered an asset
KPMG Ontario Region Pay Range Information
The expected base salary range for this position is $55,000 to $65,000 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program
