Start Date: Monday, July 6, 2026

End Date: Friday, July 24, 2026



Daily Hours: 8:30am- 12:30pm (with possibility of afternoons)

Locations: École Ste-Marguerite Bourgeoys, Kenora, ON

St. John Paul II School, Kenora, ON



Salary Range: $16.60/hour

Position Summary:

Since 2014, the KCDSB has coordinated and facilitated Summer Learning Programs (SLPs) in its schools. Backed by research conducted for the Literacy and Numeracy Secretariat, Ministry of Education, which revealed that SLPs reduce summer learning loss and build self-confidence for primary students. Most students enrolled in summer learning show increased enthusiasm for learning and improved achievement levels. These and other successes of the SLPs have been well documented both qualitatively and quantitatively.

The KCDSB SLP is a vibrant learning program with an innovative staff focused on increasing student faith development, well-being, and achievement. SLP Teachers will be responsible for planning an effective program that meets the individual needs of students.

Duties:

  • Act professionally and support the school's safe, inclusive and accepting learning environment by being a positive role model at all times
  • Responsible for carrying out duties assigned by the Summer Learning Program Acting Administrators, Teachers, and Education Assistants
  • Responsible for supporting the needs of students
  • Collaborate with staff on a regular basis to review students' programs
  • Responsible for food preparation daily
  • Actively participate in planning
  • Monitor summer learning program students in all school-related settings, including field trips

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary institution currently or for the fall semester, or have graduated within six months by your first day of employment
  • Experience working with students with varying degrees of behavioural, social and emotional needs is an asset
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Ability to adapt as required to meet the needs of a diverse school community
