POSITION SUMMARY
The Occasional Principal provides dynamic leadership and effective management in the absence of the regular principal, ensuring the seamless operation of the school. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all students and staff. Key responsibilities include supporting staff, overseeing daily routines, and addressing student needs to uphold the school’s standards of excellence.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification in good standing.
- Completion of the Principal’s Qualification Program (PQP) Parts I and II.
- Demonstrated experience as a principal, with the ability to support both elementary and secondary school contexts.
- Proven leadership in student safety and supervision, school operations, staff management, scheduling, and effective communication with parents and the community.
- Sound decision-making skills under pressure.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Board and Ministry policies, procedures, and collective agreements.
- Familiarity with Health and Safety, Safe Schools, Emergency Procedures, Special Education, and Equity and Inclusion frameworks.
- Awareness of requirement for incident reporting, discipline, and communication.
- A calm, fair, and solution-focused leadership style, strong communication and relationship-building skills, sound judgment, and confidentiality.
- Current criminal background and vulnerable sector check on file.
