What will you do
The National Project Manager is an integral part of our national operations group, and acts as project leader to plan, execute, and complete access control, CCTV, intrusion alarm and intercom system projects with assigned national customers.
Works with appropriate technical team to ensure National Program Standards are updated and distributed as necessary by account.
Acts as a single point-of-contact on JCI’s behalf for large national accounts. Works closely with local branch level operations (ISTM/IC/SC) to ensure success in install and service performance for national accounts.
The National Project Manager will also be responsible for overseeing the service program for specific accounts, as well as maintaining visibility and tracking of all project updates, submittals, deliverables, invoicing and escalations for same.
Responsible to actively pursue change of orders and maintain effective and timely communication with the assigned National Project Team within JCI for the assigned accounts.
The National Project Manager maintains an effective balance between customer satisfaction and project financial results, coordinating communication with the customer during all phases of the project.
Provides work direction to subcontractors, installers, technicians, designers, and administration as necessary. Ensures work performed follows required applicable codes and standards and operates on the job with the highest ethics.
How will you do it
Oversee project lifecycle from start to finish through various stages - Booking, kick-off, scheduling, mobilization, RFI/change orders, job completion, close out, and invoicing.
Provides detailed information to communicate design and operation to customers, Johnson Controls staff and subcontractors.
Actively pursue additional work through changing orders when justified. Evaluates the contractual scope of work and the impact of client issued bulletins, field directives and/or scheduling changes. Communicates both technical and business-related issues with the clients.
Oversee effective and timely ordering and receipt of job materials and subsequent scheduling of projects within defined project requirements.
Through close communication with local branches, provides jobsite coordination based on developed Scope of Work and National Program Standards details.
Ensure installation is in accordance with Johnson Controls literature and project requirements.
Ensure projects are completed within time, budget and scope.
Validates complete system functionality based on available criteria-of-completion and resolves issues to ensure proper operation.
Compiles and provides accurate projects as built and commission documentation where required.
Oversee the overall cost, billings and collections for assigned accounts. Works closely with billing/invoicing team to ensure invoices are submitted timely after project is considered completed and accepted by customer.
Maintains profitability goals and positive cash flow.
Provides coaching, mentoring and technical assistance to field technicians.
Provides technical assistance to subcontractors.
Ensure that delegated tasks are done accurately, on time, billed, within budget and within scope of the contract.
Effectively communicates the status of projects to management as required.
Maintain detailed and up-to-date tracking of all projects, including milestone tracking, material receipt, on-site tech scheduling, forecasted completion dates, individual project escalations and/or challenges, and invoicing.
Where applicable, sends warranty letter to JCI customer upon substantial completion of project and ensures proper execution of warranty.
Develops project plans and coordinates the required resources to ensure timely and cost-effective installation and completion of assigned projects.
Coordinates site-specific training for owner/operator on the total system in full or with assistance. Ensures owner/operator has been trained. Provides proper documentation and manuals for system operation.
Develops and maintains viable long-term relationships with contractors, clients, consultants and subcontractors. Attends job progress meetings as required.
Adheres to safety standards. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
What we look for
Required:
4 years minimum prior experience with project or program management, or technical management role or 8 years minimum field tech experience in Fire & Security industry dealing with large complex projects.
This role requires full bilingual fluency in French and English. Candidates must demonstrate strong communication abilities in both languages.
MUST have working knowledge of electricity and electronics. Specific technical knowledge of electronic security and IT network systems is strongly recommended due to the technical aspect of this position.
Must have the ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience.
Ability to effectively work independently.
Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
Strong working capabilities in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project), Adobe Writer, Visio and basic Windows environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read and understand complex building architectural, mechanical and electrical documents, as well as project plans, specifications, schedules and equipment installation/operation/troubleshooting manual.
Preferred:
Has PMI/PMP or CSPM accreditation, or willing to obtain within 2 years of employment in the position.
Experience in dealing with a large and diverse number of simultaneous challenges, requiring knowledge of many different disciplines.
Has or is currently eligible for government security clearance within Canada (Reliability, Secret, or Top Secret) due to the restricted nature of many National Accounts.
Knowledge of applicable industry and national standards - Various CAN/ULC standards related to security installation and monitoring, OBC/NBC building standards, fire code.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $70,000 - 88,000 CAD Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
