This is 0.50 FTE Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) and a 0.50 FTE Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) position within the South Okanagan.

The ACT team is a provincial program, working with clients in the community with persistent and serious mental health illness and substance use disorder. Clients have significant functional impairment and may have difficulty accessing traditional, community mental health services. ACT services are delivered by a group of multidisciplinary staff who work as a team to provide the majority of the treatment, rehabilitation, and support services clients need to achieve their recovery goals. The team goal is to lessen or eliminate the mental health problems clients’ experience and to minimize or prevent acute episodes.

EPI encourages collaborative pathways towards resiliency, recovery and independence for people over 19 years of age experiencing first episode psychosis. This service understands that collaboration is key supporting client’s recovery, which includes collaboration within the interdisciplinary team, collaboration with clients, families and the communities in which they live. EPI’s goal is to support people experiencing psychosis towards self-determined recovery through timely, effective and compassionate support.

An Occupational Therapist plays a crucial part in providing assessment, treatment planning and implementation, program planning, consultation, equipment prescription and education to patients and/or their caregivers. Operating within a client-centered approach and as an essential member of our interdisciplinary team, you make a substantial contribution to promote functional independence and enable patients to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes. You will provide work direction to the Rehabilitation Assistants working with the rehabilitation team in regard to transfer of function.
