Position Summary
Interior Health is hiring a permanent part time (0.40 FTE) Life Skills Worker to join our Mental Health team at the Golden Health Centre in Golden, B.C.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced mental health worker who is confident working independently as well as in a team, is adaptable and has a fun sense of humor to join our small but mighty team.

Salary Range:

Effective April 1, 2024, the pay scale for this position is $27.92 to $29.60

What will you work on?

Life Skills Workers play an important role in care. They plan, observe, monitor and report on clients’ progress and level of acceptance to services and support. They assist clients with activities associated with daily living and work to demonstrate and model appropriate behaviors related to problem solving and decision making.

The Life Skills Worker performs a variety of duties involving clients who are placed in the Short Stay, Stabilization, Treatment and Recovery housing program. Reporting to the Team Leader (site specific) this position is a member of the multidisciplinary Mental Health and Addiction team providing and array of services within a psychosocial rehabilitation and harm reduction framework for clients with a serious mental illness and/or substance use disorder. The Life Skills Worker is expected to engage the resident and family as people with full competence and as full collaborators in service planning, delivery and evaluation.

Shifts of work are days and shift times are from 08:30 to 16:30 hours.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience:

• Grade 12
• Community Mental Health Worker Certificate plus one year recent related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Valid First Aid Certificate
• Current CPR
• Valid Food Safe
• Current valid BC Driver’s License.
