Interior Health supports Bachelor of Science in Nursing Students (Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing Students) with an employment opportunity within its Employed Student Nurse (ESN)/ Employed Student Psychiatric Nurse (ESPN) Program.
Worksite Location: Flexible across Interior Health.

Where will you work?
The ESN/ESPN Program provides nursing students with a unique assignment that fosters professional development and the consolidation of skills and abilities. Our program is designed to employ nursing students who have successfully completed their third (3rd) year in a recognized nursing program.
ESN/ESPN positions are available in various health sectors across Interior Health including:
• Acute
• Community
• Mental Health
• Long-term Care
• Rural
• Education
• Corporate Services etc.
As an ESN/ESPN, you will provide direct nursing care in accordance with Interior Health policies, procedures, and the BCCNM ESN/ESPN Practice Standard requirements.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience:
• Current Employed Student Registrant status (i.e. ESN or ESPN) with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Be registered/eligible for registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as an Employed Student Registrant; and maintain current registration with BCCNM
• Successful completion of year 3 of a BSN program or 18 months of a RPN program, or equivalent (and continued enrollment in a BCCNM recognized nursing education program). Matching to specialized areas may be subject to clinical experience.
• Valid BLS or First Aid with CPR competency (e.g. CPR-C)
Note: Employment is conditional upon current Employed Student Registrant status (i.e. ESN or ESPN) with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Please review the BCCNM Employed student nurses webpage.
To be eligible for this ESN/ESPN intake, you must complete your ESN/ESPN hours before the start of your final practicum. Please note that learners cannot hold an ESN/ESPN position while completing their final preceptorship, and ESN/ESPN roles cannot be held with more than one health authority at the same time. We encourage those that are close to completing their final preceptorship to apply to our New Grad RN/RPN posting.
