Nicola Valley Health Centre (NVH), located in Merritt, B.C., has an immediate permanent, full time Community Rehabilitation Assistant opening.

Effective April 2024 hourly rates of pay $29.38 to $30.96.

Community Rehabilitation Assistants play a pivotal role within our interdisciplinary team, implementing our established Home Health and Community Care Rehabilitation Programs. Operating within a client-centered framework, you'll be responsible supporting adults with a variety of physical disabilities, assisting with activities of daily living, and implementing group and individual programs in clients’ homes and in community sites. Your duties are intended to allow clients to maximize their functional ability, remain at home and engage in meaningful activity.

This position is working with clients in their homes, along with seeing community outpatient clients at Nicola Valley Hospital. Duties may also include reaching out to patients presently in acute care where the community care team is supporting discharge from hospital. Days of work are Mondays to Fridays; shift times 08:00 to 16:00 hours. Local travel is required within this role in the surrounding area. Access to personal vehicle will be required; a valid Driver’s License is necessary.

Rehabilitation Assistants take clinical direction from either a physical therapist or an occupational therapist. Within this role, a Rehabilitation Assistant:
• Is encouraged to work at top of scope.
• Engages clients with regular therapeutic interventions.
• Has a huge impact on progression of client needs and their rehab journey.
• Is an intrical member of the rehabilitation team.
• Is relied on to be the eyes and ears of the rehabilitation team.

Qualfications
• Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program, or an internationally educated therapist who has the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Valid Driver’s License is required.
