We are hiring for a Certified Orthotist at the Kelowna General Hospital. This is a relief (temporary) opportunity is expected to run until November 2027 or the return of the current incumbent. Join our multidisciplinary team - apply today!

Shift times/Hours of work: 08:00 to 16:00

About the role:
This position designs and fits orthoses to enable clients to function better and improve their quality of life. Duties include receiving referrals, assessing clients’ needs, designing and/or selecting appropriate orthoses, fitting and adjusting orthoses, examining and evaluating existing orthoses and making recommendations for repair/replacement. The Orthotist consults with interdisciplinary team members, other health care providers and suppliers, promotes orthotic services, and maintains knowledge of current trends and new technology in the field of orthotics.
This role provides comprehensive orthotic assessments and follow up care for Inpatients, Rehabilitation Inpatients, and Outpatients.
Key responsibilities may include:
• Receive referrals and complete detailed orthotic assessments across inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Assess client needs, design and/or select appropriate orthoses, and provide expert fitting and adjustments.
• Provide a range of orthotic solutions, including offloading footwear, AFOs, spinal orthoses, and other bracing options.
• Examine and evaluate existing orthotic devices, recommending repairs, modifications, or replacements as needed.
• Communicate effectively - both verbally and in writing - with clients, families, interdisciplinary team members, and other healthcare providers.
• Apply for and coordinate funding sources to support client access to orthotic devices.
• Collaborate with suppliers and contribute to the promotion of orthotic services.
• Maintain up to date knowledge of current trends, innovations, and emerging technologies in the field of orthotics.

Qualfications
Completion of recognized Orthotics Program and two years’ recent experience in a rehabilitation health care setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Certification in Orthotics from the Canadian Board for Certification of Prosthetists and Orthotists (CBCPO)
Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association for Prosthetics and Orthotics (CAPO)
