The organization is family-owned, well-established, and employs approximately 200 team members, with a strong network of subcontractors supporting field operations. The company specializes in asphalt paving and road construction projects, primarily servicing municipal and commercial clients. With a strong reputation in Western Canada, they are focused on disciplined execution, safety, financial performance, and long-term client partnerships.

About the Opportunity
This is a newly created Senior Project Manager position, introduced to strengthen leadership oversight across multiple asphalt paving projects. Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, the successful candidate will oversee approximately 4 Project Managers initially, with potential growth to 6 as the portfolio expands. This role carries full lifecycle accountability across multiple concurrent projects, from pre-construction through close-out, ensuring performance across schedule, cost, quality, safety, and client satisfaction.

The organization is seeking a strong leader who can mentor project teams, drive margin accountability, manage risk exposure, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the project management group.

About the Position

  • Leading and mentoring Project Managers and Project Coordinators
  • Overseeing multiple asphalt paving projects from pre-construction through close-out
  • Driving schedule, cost, quality, and safety performance
  • Managing budgets, forecasts, cost controls, and change orders
  • Ensuring strong margin accountability and financial results
  • Identifying and mitigating project risks, claims, and disputes
  • Providing contract interpretation guidance (RFIs, notices, change events, claims, close-out documentation)
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for clients, municipalities, consultants, and inspectors
  • Coordinating schedules, sequencing, and subcontractor performance
  • Ensuring compliance with OHS, environmental, and municipal specifications
  • Supporting business development through client retention and repeat work
  • Delivering senior-level reporting on financials, cash flow, production metrics, and staffing needs
  • Contributing to process improvements and operational best practices

Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years of Project Management experience in road construction/asphalt paving
  • P.Eng. or CET with PMP designation (or equivalent demonstrated experience)
  • Proven leadership in managing multiple project teams
  • Strong experience with municipal and commercial asphalt paving projects
  • Demonstrated ability in managing budgets, schedules, contracts, and risk
  • Experience working with municipalities, consultants, and regulatory bodies
  • Strong contract administration and claims management capability
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean abstract

Compensation

  • $140,000 - $170,000 base salary

Work Environment

  • This role is fully office-based with regular site visits.
  • Candidates must be comfortable working extended hours during peak construction season and operating in outdoor environments as required.
