Key Accountabilities:

Customer Service:

  • Deliver established service standards through effective communication with all involved parties.
  • Create an clear and concise claims process by outlining expectations and providing status updates throughout the claims lifecycle.
  • Immediately identify and deploy Field Services /Restoration Contractors as required.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with all involved parties in order to increase brand power

Productivity:

  • Proactively seek timely and cost-effective claims resolutions through the use of critical thinking, analytical skills and problem solving
  • Create and implement an action plan for each file including proactive follow ups to ensure timely resolution.
  • Proactively manage service providers to file conclusion.
  • Process payments promptly within established timelines.
  • Prepare files summaries for litigation and mediation, large loss and reinsurance as required.

Quality:

  • Ensure all claims are thoroughly investigated and documented through contact with all identified and involved parties (e.g. insurers, claimants, witnesses, etc.).
  • Ensure every claim file includes a thorough and documented coverage review in accordance with best practices.
  • Ensure thorough documentation of all claim files (e.g. telephone calls, reports, emails etc.).
  • Set and maintain accurate reserves throughout the claims lifecycle by reviewing all relevant information.
  • Based on file complexity, ensure settlement decisions are fully detailed in the file notes.
  • Immediately identify and take necessary actions to maximize subrogation opportunities
  • Establish and ensure litigation disposition plans and budgets are completed and adhered to by counsel.
  • Identify, investigate and refer claims with irregularities to SIU.
  • works on 50 to 70 files

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education and / or equivalent on the job experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of Property/Marine Claims adjusting experience
  • Commercial property experience is an asset
  • General working knowledge of claims settlement, policy wordings, insurance contracts, fraud investigations, serious losses, and coverage questions.
  • Ability to work within and adapt to PC oriented environments, including familiarity with e-mail and Internet skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Actively pursuing CIP/FCIP designation an asset.
  • Fluently bilingual (English/French) is a definite asset (a requirement in Quebec region).
  • Provincial licensing where required.
  • Familiarity of applicable case law/arbitration decisions and provincial legislation.
  • Familiarity in establishing and monitoring litigation disposition plans.
