Description
A leading business law firm with a strong national and cross-border presence is seeking a skilled Litigation Legal Assistant to support its Commercial Litigation team. About the Position
The role is ideal for a legal assistant with 5+ years of experience in commercial litigation who enjoys a high level of responsibility and engagement in both legal and operational processes. The successful candidate will support senior legal professionals, coordinate with internal teams, and take a proactive role in the financial administration of litigation files.
The Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to lawyers in the Commercial Litigation group, including client service, document preparation, and file management.
- Manage calendars, coordinate meetings, and handle court and filing deadlines in accordance with the Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Take ownership of file openings and closings, engagement letters, conflict checks, and document organization using iManage and other internal systems.
- Work closely with the billing team to enter dockets, manage prebills, and oversee alternative fee arrangements using 3E billing software.
- Liaise with Marketing, IT, and other administrative departments to ensure seamless coordination and support for ongoing matters.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, and attention to detail in all aspects of the role.
The Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a legal assistant in commercial litigation.
- In-depth understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure and litigation processes.
- Proven experience with 3E billing software and working knowledge of financial procedures related to legal billing and fee arrangements.
- Familiarity with iManage, conflict checking processes, and file opening/closing protocols.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Strong team player with the ability to work independently and prioritize effectively.
