General Accountabilities:
- As a Staff Advisor, provide all managers and staff of Hydro One business units, with advice, counsel and representation on all aspects of corporate security.
- Develop and advise on the implementation process, standards, methodologies, procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance of key corporate security requirements are met.
- Work in conjunction with external and internal partners and clients to design and develop a wide range of asset protection strategies, policies, objectives, cost effective standards, awareness education programs.
- Plan and undertake specialized security assessments.
- Minimizing program security risks by developing standards, methodologies, procedures and guidelines.
- Conduct investigations into criminal activity such as fraud, theft and other breaches of security and the Code of Business Conduct.
- Prepare and issue detailed reports and making recommendations on behalf of management.
- Attend on behalf of management meetings/arbitrations/grievances that may result as an outcome of investigations.

- Develop and advise on the implementation of management process, standards, methodologies, procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance of key corporate security requirements are met including due diligence responsibilities regarding effective asset protection.
- Conduct security investigations and work closely with line management, human resources, labour relations in defining criminal or wrongdoing activity such as fraud, theft and other breaches of security so that effective remedies can be determined.
- Prepare and issue detailed reports and making recommendations on behalf of management.
- Attend on behalf of management meetings/arbitrations/grievances that may result as an outcome of investigations.
- Conduct needs analysis to assess requirements of staff and management awareness and education regarding program security.
- Work in conjunction external and internal partners and clients to design, and develop a wide range of program security strategies, policies, objectives and cost effective standards.
- Provide an awareness of educational programs to provide for a high level of asset protection security and security awareness throughout the corporation.
- Plan and undertake specialized security assessments demanding a high level of creditability to execute business needs, due diligence and corporate security resources.
- Report on results of risk assessments with conclusions and recommendations for improvement, planned management actions and follow-up status.
- Contribute expertise and knowledge of security advisory requirements to the development of the units and departments business plans, objectives and strategic directions.
- Coordinate departmental, inter and intra-functional project teams to address specific security issues; provides direction and guidance to project staff.
- Provide input to Human Resources policy development and in response to specific incidents dealing with the security of the cooperation and responsive measures such as work stoppage contingency planning and assessment of appropriate disciplinary measures.
- Keep abreast of developments in the areas of legal, regulatory, corporate requirements, technological developments and best practices in the corporate security field.
Specific Accountabilities:
- As a Staff Investigator and Advisor, provide all managers and staff of Hydro One business units with advice, counsel and representation on all aspects of asset protection and corporate security services.
- Develop and advise on the implementation of management process, standards, methodologies, procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance of key corporate security requirements are met and investigational integrity is achieved.
- Conduct investigations into breaches of the Hydro One Code of Conduct and other provincial and federal laws. Work closely with line management, human resources, labour relations in determining wrongdoing such as fraud, sabotage, theft and other breaches of security, corporate policy, criminal code or provincial statute.
- Develop and maintain effective and professional relationships, both internal and external to seek and gather intelligence regarding new, emerging and current threats to Hydro One assets. Conduct intelligence assessments to determine the scope and likelihood that identified threats would pose a risk to Hydro One assets and other interdependent critical infrastructure sectors.
- Prepare and issue detailed reports and making recommendations on behalf of management. Attend on behalf of management meetings/arbitrations/ grievances that may result as an outcome of investigations.
- Conduct needs analysis to assess requirements of staff and management awareness and education regarding corporate security and asset protection.
- Work in conjunction with external and internal partners and clients to design, and develop a wide range of asset protection/corporate security strategies, policies, objectives and standards.
- Plan and undertake specialized security or threat and risk assessments demanding a high level of creditability to assist in the protection of operational assets, execute business needs, due diligence and corporate security resources. Report on results of Threat and risk assessments with conclusions and recommendations for improvement to asset protection, planned management actions and follow-up status.
- Develop strategies, methodologies, procedures and guidelines for minimizing asset protection and corporate security threats and risks.
- Contribute expertise and knowledge of asset protection and corporate security requirements to the development of departmental business plans, objectives and strategic directions.
- Coordinate departmental, inter and intra-functional project teams to address specific asset protection and security issues; provides direction and guidance to project staff.
- Provide input to Human Resources and Health and Safety policy development and in response to specific incidents dealing with security. Cooperate and implement security measures to respond to work stoppages, contingency planning, and assessment of appropriate asset protection.
- Keep current of developments in the areas of security systems, legal, regulatory, corporate requirements, technological developments and best practices in the investigative and corporate security fields.
- Travel throughout Ontario will be (vehicle & air) will be expected from the successful candidate.
Selection Criteria:
- Working knowledge of Hydro One or similar energy sector organization and the ability to develop a clear understanding of the company's key functional processes and resources.
- Knowledge of and expectations of external policing and ability to develop strong inter-agency working relationships.
- Demonstrated experience in the development of business cases, briefing notes and detailed investigation reports.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Ability to plan, organizes, and directs the testing of asset protection plans, recovery support, and asset protection procedures.
- Strong human relations skills to interface with executives, senior management, line managers and staff at all levels within the organization and to deal with vendors.
- Excellent oral communication and written communication skills.
- Willingness to adopt continuous learning.
- Diploma in Law and Security, Justice Studies, Policing, Military Police or the equivalent in Corporate Security education and work experience.
- Must be willing to travel within Ontario.
- Minimum of full G drivers' license required.
- Clearance of Hydro One's Personal Risk Assessment will be required.
- Experience with identifying risks and threat analysis and developing meaningful solutions.
- Proven experience in understanding of the Corporate Code of Conduct, Corporate Safety Rules, Occupational Health & Safety Act and legislative requirements, Work Protection Code, environmental issues affecting the Corporation.
- Strong knowledge of the overall operation, function and major lines of business within the organization, policy and planning practices and a thorough understanding of how all these aspects are reflected through the management structure of Hydro One.
- Sound knowledge and experience with various management systems (SAP), controls, policies, procedures, data and business processes and agreements governing Company's activities.
